Empowered Woman Interview with Desiree Doubrox

I just did a wonderful interview with Desiree Doubrox who is the founder and moving spirit of An Empowered Woman. It is a group foundered for women, by women and offers incredible networking opportunities for women from every walk of life.

This amazing group meets several times a month and gives support to all of the members.

My book signing at Borders in Thousand Oaks on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at 2:00 pm will be a member event.   Of course, it is open to the public so I hope everyone who is free will be able stop by and say "HI!"  Borders is at 125 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd and very convenient to the new Nordstroms.

Also, I will be the guest speaker at The Westlake Ycht Club on Tuesday, September 30th at 7:00 pm  for their distinguished speakers Series. I will be doing a power point presentation on The Top Ten things that Seniors Whine About! Come and jopin in the fun even if you aren't an official senior.

Whining and Children at Bedtime by January Jones

Smiley and Whineys come in all Sizes!

Thou Shalt Not Whine...The Eleventh Commandment

by January Jones

Chapter 2

Whine #1 Going to Bed

"Anyone who thinks the art of conversation is dead ought to tell a child to go to bed."
               Robert Gallagher

Whine A: Do I have to?

Why: This is the number one thing that children of all ages whine about. it is their universal reason to whine, something they all do. Nobody wants the party to end, and children will usually let you know this in their most irritating, annoying, whining voice, hoping to get their way while driving you crazy. From the time they are toddlers, they know that bedtime is the worst time of day for them. Likewise, they know it is the best time for parents, which makes it even more tempting for them to whine, thus besmirching any quietude said parents may carve out for themselves. Unfortunately, it is simply not in children's nature to want to sleep. It is only when they become teenagers that they crave sleep, and then only in the morning.

Whine B: Can't I stay up a little longer?

Cure: I have had a lot of luck with the "Because I said so!" cure when accompanied by the "look" that only a loving mother can give when she is exhausted. The best way to stop the whining, though, is to make a game of bedtime with songs, stories and lots of love. A visit from the tickle bug is fun for them and you too, even if they do think they're" too old for it." Remember to comfort them with a small nightlight and their favorite stuffed animals - and don't forget the blankie or binkie!

Children & Whining by January Jones Thou Shalt Not Whine Chapter Two

Introducing the Smiley - Whiney Kids!!

Thou Shalt Not Whine
by January Jones

 Chapter 2
Children and Whining

Kids and whining go together like peanut butter and jelly. I have discovered that most kids can whine about anything, anytime and anywhere, as log as it will embarrass their parents.

Normal children do this all the time because they are experts at never acting normal.

Most kids love to whine about sharing things. Every parent knows the drill. If it's something that's in my hand, then it's mine; if it's broken then it's yours. Then there is my personal favorite between siblings: the classic and mysterious "He's looking at me" whine.

Of course, all experts will tell you that there is only one way to raise children. Unfortunately, so far no one seems to agree what that one way actually is. I have  some ideas, but I won't belabor them here. It's far more fun and profitable to sit back while enjoying the ultimate payback: watching my kids try to raise their own little darlings.

The Top Ten Things That Children Whine about:

1.  Going to Bed
2.  Sharing
3.  Taking Turns
4.  Waking Up for School
5.  Babysitters
6.  Taking a Bath
7.  Homework
8.  Brushing Teeth
9.  Where to Sit in the Car
10. He's Looking at Me

It's mine....
If it looks exactly like mine.
If it's yours and I steal it.
If I think it's broken.

But...if it's broken, it's yours.

My siblings and probably yours.

While I was in Atlanta I did a live television interview on "Everyday with Marcus and Lisa" at the In Touch Ministry Studios. We had a great time on the set. They are an adorable couple and we had such a wonderful interview.

As you can see, their set is lovely and they are even lovelier. The entire crew made me feel so welcome with their wonderful southern hospitality. I will be posting the entire interview on my website just as soon as I receive it.

Also while in Atlanta, I visited with Dr. Fitness and The Fat Guy again at WGSR-Atlanta. They are such a hoot and we laughed and had so much fun through out the entire hour. They are so irreverent and outrageous that I just adore them. What a team and you can listen to them at their website anytime www.weightlossradio.libsyn.com and we'll be posting their interview at my website too.

I've been doing quite a few interviews since my book launched last Wednesday. Also, I did a wonderful interview prior to my internet campaign with Peter Anthony Holder on Holder Tonite Radio from Montreal, Canada.

His fabulous website is:www.peteranthonyholder.com.

On the day of the launch September 3rd, there was another interview with Don Grant KOTA from Grand Rapid City, SD. Don was a delight and we dished a little about whiners and winners.

Also that day, I chatted with Gary Doyle from CCKG from Ontario, Canada. Gary shared with me that although he is a reformed Whiner he is still a moderate Whino.

Then it was time for some straight talk from Texas with Sam Cousey and Jesse Jones (not a relative) from KXYI where they featured my book, Thou Shalt Not Whine on their show "Other Side of the News."

Tonight I will be doing an interview with Michael Dresser on his show Dresser after Dark. Isn't that a great name for talk radio? Tshe show won't take place until 11:30 pm so I'm drinking coffee and trying to stay awake.
Wish me luck, Michael sounds a little dangerous!"

All of the above interviews will be posted at my website soon!
